Impulse Buying and the Art of Point of Purchase Displays

Have you ever seen an advertisement and felt immediately compelled to buy the product? This is known as impulse buying and it is something that point of purchase manufacturers heavily focus on through their point of purchase displays. Brown Packaging isn’t like other point of purchase manufacturers. We create point of purchase displays that tap into the impulses of a consumer and we work with our clients to identify target markets.

Point of purchase displays are usually placed throughout stores and their main purpose is to engage a consumer. Through the aspect of engagement, point of purchase displays tap into the impulses that a consumer will feel. Through these impulses, a consumer will either buy a product or move on. However, it is not that simple. In order for them to be effective, they must be well designed and make use of images, colors, design patterns, and more. In order to create an emotional experience that will convey an impulse, the design must command immediate attention and convince a consumer that they must have a specific product at all costs and that their life will not be the same if they do not buy it. This can be achieved through the purpose of the product (think of Colgate or Crest toothpaste) or the image of a product (think Apple). Point of purchase displays allow a company to sell smaller products by placing a display that engages a consumer while they shop.

Generally, point of purchase displays are found in small gas stations, grocery stores, retail stores, and more. Point of purchase display manufacturers’ help companies identify a target market and manufacture point of purchase displays that fill the needs of target audiences.
